The Unfinished Memoirs Paragraph

The word ‘memoirs’ means an account written by a public figure of his life and experiences. The Unfinished Memoirs’ is an autobiography written by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Its name in Bengali is ‘Osomapto Atmojiboni’. In 1967-1969, when Bangabandhu was in prison, his wife inspired him to write an autobiography. It is, in fact, written in Bangla and translated into English by Dr. Fakrul Alam. Actually, Bangabandhu gave his notebooks to Sheikh Fazlul Haq Moni to prepare a typed copy. But after the tragic incident of 15 August 1975, the notebooks slid into oblivion, and in 2004, four notebooks were discovered in a drawer of Sheikh Moni. The contents of the notebook were extracted by Sheikh Hasina along with Sheikh Rehana and Baby Moudud, The compiled notes were published as a book on 12 June 2012 from The University Press Limited. The book was named by Sheikh Rehana and prefaced by Sheikh Hasina. It has been translated into 14 languages, and on 7 October 2020, brail version of the book was released. The ‘Osomapto Atmojiboni ‘ presents us with some precious memories of the Father of the Nation. The book has revealed some of the unknown facts about Bangabandhu’s personal, political and familial life. It clearly depicts him as a friend of Bangla and also the reason why he is the best Bangalee in a thousand years.

‘Memoirs’ দ্বারা কোনো জনপ্রিয় ব্যক্তি কর্তৃক লিখিত তাঁর নিজের জীবন ও অভিজ্ঞতার বর্ণনাকে বোঝায়। ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’ হলো বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের লেখা আত্মজীবনী। বাংলায় এর নাম হলো ‘অসমাপ্ত আত্মজীবনী’ । ১৯৬৭-১৯৬৯ সময়কালে বঙ্গবন্ধু যখন জেলে ছিলেন, তখন তাঁর স্ত্রী তাঁকে আত্মজীবনীটি লেখার অনুপ্রেরণা দেন। এটি মূলত বাংলায় লেখা আর ইংরেজিতে অনুবাদ করেছেন ড. ফকরুল আলম। আসলে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ ফজলুল হক মণিকে তাঁর নোটবুকগুলো টাইপ করার জন্য দেন। কিন্তু ১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্টের মর্মান্তিক ঘটনার পরে নোটবুকগুলো স্মৃতি থেকে হারিয়ে যায় এবং ২০০৪ সালে চারটি নোটবুক শেখ মণির ড্রয়ার থেকে আবিষ্কৃত হয়। শেখ রেহানা ও বেবি মওদুদকে সাথে নিয়ে শেখ হাসিনা নোটবুকগুলোর বিষয়বস্তু উদ্ধার করেন। ২০১২ সালের ১২ জুন ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রেস লিমিটেড থেকে সংকলিত লেখাগুলো প্রকাশিত হয়। বইটির নামকরণ করেছেন শেখ রেহানা আর মুখবন্ধ লিখেছেন শেখ হাসিনা। এটি ১৪টি ভাষায় অনুদিত হয়েছে এবং ২০২০ সালের ৭ অক্টোবর বইটির ব্রেইল ভার্সন বেরিয়েছে। ‘অসমাপ্ত আত্মজীবনী’ আমাদেরকে জাতির পিতার কিছু অমূল্য স্মৃতি উপহার দিয়েছে। বইটি বঙ্গবন্ধুর ব্যক্তিগত, রাজনৈতিক ও পারিবারিক জীবন বিষয়ে কিছু অজানা তথ্য প্রকাশ করেছে। এটি স্পষ্টতই তাঁকে বাংলার বন্ধু হিসেবে চিত্রায়িত করেছে এবং কেন তিনি হাজার বছরের শ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙালি সে কারণও প্রকাশ করেছে।
