Arsenic Pollution/ The Killing Water
Arsenic is a very dangerous poison which is very harmful to the people. It is called the king of poison because it was used to kill king or his kith and kin in palace to fulfil the desire of the conspirator. But now the use of it has been changed.
Poisoning by arsenic is nothing but a slow process. That is, it is due to a gradual build-up of the poison in the human body. Eventually, people start to show symptoms and become unwell. Deaths due to long-term poisoning make it even more important to address the problem as soon as possible.
Nowadays, arsenic is found in the water of tube-well. People get heavily affected by drinking arsenic polluted water. Sore is found in the toes of feet and in many other places of the body. Drinking water polluted by arsenic, people lose the stamina of the body. At present arsenic is a great threat to the people of Bangladesh. The people of North Bengal have been greatly affected by arsenic pollution. Thousands of people from other places of our country are suffering from arsenic poisonings and more people are being affected every day. Many people of our country eat a balanced diet, containing fish and vegetables. It may be a part of the reasons why the number of arsenicosis patients in Bangladesh is still relatively low. It has a larger effect which people concerned can understand in course of time. It is, so to speak, a bad fate for human civilization. So, we should take effective steps to prevent and control arsenic pollution for ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for human beings.
It is a matter of joy that the Govt. of Bangladesh has taken different measures to prevent arsenic. As it is a national problem, people of all classes should be conscious. Educated people can play a vital role in this respect.
