Dengue Fever
Dengue is a painful, debilitating mosquito-borne disease by the Aedes mosquito. Tropical areas are the most vulnerable areas to have dengue. The symptoms of Dengue usually appear within four to six days after infection and last up to ten days. The symptoms may include sudden high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, severe joint and muscle pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, and mild bleeding. These symptoms may progress to massive bleeding and even death. However, a person with dengue hemorrhagic fever may experience damage to lymph and blood vessels; black vomit, and feces due to internal bleeding. A lower number of platelets, sensitive stomach, and weak pulse. Surprisingly, there is no specific treatment for dengue infection. Doctors generally suggest the infected people take rest and drink plenty of liquids, and sometimes prescribe paracetamol. One of the effective ways to prevent dengue fever is to avoid bites by the infected mosquitoes. For that, we need to lessen the mosquito population. We can do that by taking effective measures such as keeping our living places and neighborhoods clean. We must also get rid of clogged and accumulated water so that Aedes mosquitoes cannot breed.
